Dog catches croc in Queensland

Helping the helpless

A flood victim ensures her pooch is safe.
Watching the Queensland floods unfold has been dreadful but one silver lining has been the compassion of people towards animals.

Many pet owners heeded the RSPCA's advice to think of their animals first, either getting them to higher ground or taking them with them as they evacuated.

Over 500 animals at the RSPCA's main Brisbane rescue shelter found themselves being rescued yet again as volunteers trucked them away with little time to spare before the torrent flooded the shelter.

It's something more than heartwarming that in the midst of so much misery people have it in them to rescue animals whose survival is dependent on their actions.

Never be afraid to ask

So we're about to send out the first media release for Doggy Dining, and I thought it would be good to include a quote from an industry professional who supports what we're doing.

I approached the Lost Dog's Home in Melbourne as that's where we got our dog. All I can say is, Wow, I certainly never expected such an enthusiastic response.

I really am starting to believe that people who loves dogs, love people more :)

Bomb dog had enough?

Interesting story in the Herald Sun about Sarbi the army bomb dog, who was lost for 18 months after being caught in a Taliban ambush against SAS soldiers.

The last trooper to see her alive said she was injured and heading towards the nearest US Army base. Over a year later she was discovered with a local, alive and overweight.

Call me a coward, but perhaps it was no accident that Sarbi didn't find her way back to base!

Dogs wait out QLD floods

As the flood waters show little sign of subsiding any time soon, stranded dogs are among the victims passing time in refuge centres.
